Exam Fever!

Went home last weekend as mum was back from Phuket. I even skipped class on Friday so that I can go back for an extra day. Well, as usual, did not study much, eventhough I brought some books back. Ended up watching movies till my eyes were so tired it could hardly open. Anyway, felt I deserve a break. So it's ok.

Came back to fing a whole lot of work to do. Homework was due but still undone. Next week I'll be having 2 quizes and I still haven't start revising. Making matters worse, exam is in 3 weeks time!!! Arrgghhh! Better get down to serious work, girl!

Yeah. May God's strength sustain me though this last few weeks I'm here. Then I'll be on my way back to Melaka! Yeah... :)

Sex In The City

Was a little down after my presentation today. I think some disagreed with my views. My presentation was about social values in the media. Among the things I touched on was sex. I stressed that it was against our values and that we should reject messages encouraging such activities.

Anyway, the girl after me presented her topic. Although it was another title, she mention she had nothing against premarital sex! I think it was like a smack on my face! Wow, that was hard.

Earlier my friend, who is Indonesian but has been here for 7 years told me she was rather surprised by the attitude of the people here, especially students towards the issue of sex. According to her, a report once showed that 4 out of 5 youths who are in a relationship engage in sex. My Goodness. She even cited her secondary school friend who publicly said he had done it as soon as he reach 16, the minimum age to do so here. My mouth could drop straight to the floor

But I could not be anymore surprised by this. The university newspaper featured sex in the hostels 2 weeks ago. They were asking if sex should be prohibited or not. At the moment, it is not clearly stated. But students response was totally way of. Some say we shouldn't even be thinking of it, but rather encouraging safe sex. They could sell condoms in the campus supermarket! I dunno how to describe my response to that!

Well, I'm totally speechless. But one thing I found out is that the Singaporean society is very different from Melaka's. Its a minority to have never been in a relationship before, what more pure. you know what I mean...

The Bitter Pill of Kia-suness

The effect of the kia su syndrom since coming to Singapore.

One of our projects was to evaluate a Singapore company's performance. When approached by a guy who asked us what company we selected, we told them.
Then, he suddenly blurted out f***! It's the same with ours.
Well, good la. We can share info.
No la. Don't think so.
Well, what the heck to that!

Another assignment is due this Friday. My group had completed it one week earlier, but we found out there were some major errors in our calculations for the master budget. So, one of my team mate and I decided we should recheck the whole thing. We sat there trying to figure out where the answer was, but after an hour we couldn't figure it out. Giving up, we decided to ask a few of our classmates for help.

Obviously, some were reluctant to help. They kept saying 'I don't know'. It was obvious they wanted to hide something. And then we should them our answer. Some, to my surprise were taken aback by that. Their body language was like do you really want me to see? You don't mind is it? Well, of course I don't. I'm so used to discussing answers back home. We managed to dig some after some drilling.

Well, never mind. I told myself. Prayed asking God to reveal the problem area or sent someone do was willing to help. By then I was tired, mentally drained and frustrated. My team mate was whinning, how, how.... Arrgghhh!

Then, suddenly, like a revelation, I noticed where we had gone wrong. Told her, but she wasn't convinced. Then, she saw her ex classmate, an old friend. We decided to ask her. Try our luck as we had nothing to loose. Must be tebal muka a bit. I told myself.

To my relief, she happily showed us her full answer and offered to lend it to us to see. Wow! It's a gift from heaven. Was so relieved. But my friend was pai seh... She said she wanted to see only the final answer. Wouldn't blame her after all we went through. She's also a foreign student but has been studying here since 1998. She said most people won't do such a good deed.

Well, I thank God we manage to redo the whole thing. Hopefully its correct now. Thank God for the kind people around who help willingly.
