The Tsunami Disaster...

Brought to rememberance the event of Sodom and Gomorrah and the floods during Noah's time. Was it God's judgement upon the people there, as it was then?

At that time, Sodom and Gomorrah roughly had 10 000 people. Yet, God could not even find 10 righteous people there. And there was Abraham, pleading before God for the them. He was found righteous before the Lord and what was he doing? Interceeding for the people in Sodom and Gomorrah.

Look at Moses. When the Isrealites built the golden calves to worship, God's anger burned against them (Exodus 32:9). It was so bad, He told Moses to leave. But Moses, boldly stood before Him, pleading for the Isrealites. He was even willing to go to hell for their sake! (v34)

Coming back to Sodom and Gomorrah, not even 10 righteous men could be found and God struck it. But it was after much consideration ( from 50 men to 10 ). The ungodly were punished, but Abraham was spared. ONLY those found righteous before God will be saved from such judgement on the wicked. Noah, Daniel and Job to name a few. Read Ezekiel 14:12-20.

That's God's promise to those who kept themsleves right before God even when the people were straying away.

The problem is how many of us are right before Him? Righteous by HIS standard.

Again, could this recent event be related to those in the Bible? Thinking it through, it happened after 40 years of another earthquake. Isn't 40 (years) significant in the Bible?

Many have different interpretation of this event. But if it is really God's intervention like in those days, can He find 1 righteous Christians in a 1000 people?

Let this be a challenge for us who call ourselves Christian. Will we be found righteous, interceeding for this dying land? To stand in the gap like Moses, Abraham and many others before us?

I pray that Christians will rise at this hour and be serious about our faith!

Grant us grace and compassion, O God!
