Job Interview #1

Walau!!! Got an email today notifying me of a job interview with Deutsche Bank this Tuesday. What?! Going to laugh my head off. I don't even remember applying for this and it was just for fun...cos I thought since many people will be wanting to work in Investment Banks (but I don't know why.... prestige?)... Anyway it was just to see if I could get shortlisted. And yes I got.... so what now?

I really don't want to work in a bank... really, I just don't like the idea of following the market and all. So what now? ok, I sort of lied in my cover letter that it was my ambition to work in a bank.. haha.. thought by our Career Director to learn how to impress... haha.. smoke a bit.

Back to my dilemma.. how? feel like just not going for interview... just go MIA. Exam is just 2 days away after the interview and I think I'ld rather spend my resources revising instead of preparing for the interview.

Anyway got this from Deutsche Bank on the interview process

There are three areas essential for leaving a good impression during your interview with Deutsche Bank:
1. Know yourself

2. Know Deutsche Bank
3. Know the industry/know the job

Know yourself
Before you put yourself through our interview process, make sure you know who you are. Know what you want to do and why you want to do it. Understand that people get into financial services for many reasons. This is a challenging career. Make sure you know what your motivations are. You’ll be asked about them.
Why do you want to work for Deutsche Bank?
Why have you chosen the role you are applying for?
What activities have you done in the past?
Where have you worked?
What kind of person are you?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
What do you love and hate?
Make sure you know your resume

Know Deutsche Bank
We’ve been around for a long time. Know our history as well as the most recent deal we closed.
What countries do we operate in?
How many divisions do we have?
What divisions operate in the region you are interested in?
What is our organizational structure?
Who are our senior managers?
How many people from your school did we hire last year?
What are some of the more important/news worthy deals we just closed?
Have you talked to any company representatives/current employees?
What do recent Deutsche Bank Interns at your school have to say about us?

Know the industry/know the job
We realize that every job has a large learning curve. When you join Deutsche Bank you will take part in a comprehensive training program. However, we expect you to demonstrate an understanding of some fundamental concepts about the industry and the position you are applying for.
Get used to banking lingo; fixed income, cash flow, bond
Follow the large markets. We don’t expect you to know the exact percentage change of a specific stock but we do expect you to know the major trends in some of the large financial markets
Know who the major players are in the industry
For roles in core functions such as HR, Technology and Operations know why you would rather do this work in finance as opposed to another industry
Have a few questions prepared to demonstrate you’ve done some research and want more information
Show that you understand what your role would entail and what makes you a good candidate

Alamak, after going through the questions, I think I just won't make it lor... blur blur.... HOW?!
