Bintan Trip 11 - 14 June 08

A bunch of girls was sitting on the beach in sentosa one lazy evening. Then someone suggested that they should go for a short getaway. After all the talking and planning, it finally came true. 8 girls on a 4 day 3 night trip to Bintan Island, Kepulauan Riau, Indonesia.

The girls miraculously secured their leaves and met on 11 June 08 at Bedok. They bought their groceries (to cook during their stay there.. yumm..). On their menu was water cress soup, sphagethi, mashed potatoes, chicken casserole and a mushroom dish!
From Bedok they headed down to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. Bought their ferry tickets (waited 3 hours) and left for Bintan at 5pm on Indera Bupala. Arrived at Bintan Nirwana and after much hassle with the management, they checked into Suria 2... the villa where they spent their next 3 nights.

The girls spent their time "nuah-ing" away. Each morning would begin with a hearty buffet breakfast.

On the first day in Bintan, they walked along the beautiful beach - white sand, crystal clear waters with clear blue skies. Then lazed under the coconut trees and dipped in the pool, under the mid-afternoon sun... and the writer had severe sunblock for the negligence of not putting sunblock on her shoulders! (her skin is still peeling at the time of this journal entry).

The night was spent cooking dinner, playing games and chit-chatting.

The next day, the girls decided to explore Bintan. They ventured beyond the Nirwana gardens compound and arrived at Pasar Ole-0le.... only to find out that the place was a market built for tourist! Shock and dissappointment came over the writter... although she already expected it to be what se saw. A local approached them and offered to drive them to the local town to explore. The writer, being the type that loves to explore new things, agreed... thankfully, the rest agreed too.

So off they went, on a 1.5hour car ride to Tanjung Pinang, the main town in Bintan. They found out that it was a small town and was not very developed. There was a port, government offices, shophouses and residential houses. There was nothing much to see there. They returned to their villa in the late evening. Rested, prepared dinner and chilled out.

The last day, the girls woke up, packed and left Bintan on the 11.30am ferry back to Singapore.

It was a good trip, with lots of rest and getting to know each other. Thank God for friends made.
